Tourmaline is not a mineral. It is a complex combination of many minerals. With so many varieties (such as dravite, rubellite, indicolite, verderlite, elbaite), tourmaline comes in many colors. But the most popular color is pink. And this is why this pair of pink earrings would be adorable for her who is born in the month of October.
The delicate glass ball contains baby pink resin crystals enriched by deeper pink pieces of cut glass. Small plastic flowers are "planted" into our fantasy garden in a glass ball.
Like most gemstones, tourmaline has a slew of legends and folklores related to its most unique aspect - a wide variety of colors. For example, the ancient Egyptians believed that tourmaline obtained its colors by traveling along rainbows.
Besides being one of the birthstones for October, tourmaline is also the gemstone for your eighth wedding anniversary. If you are at this point, then the tourmaline-color of the hearts of this pair of earrings would be perfect.
The main pendant is a gold-plated hoop of about one inch in diameter. The smaller hoop is a key-chain style hoop. The center crystal charm is cubic zirconia. It is nestled by high quality brass, permanently enamel-colored with gold to have a long-lasting elegant shine.
The Shop does not have anything close resembling opal .. yet.
But we do have this charming cabochon earrings that are opalescent. The pendant is a 25mm cabochon made of clear glass. The image is that of a tree in winter. To complete the ensemble, complementary glass beads top off the trees. And if you're a tree-fan, you'd be happy to know that the back of the bezel for the cabochon has an engraved tree.
This may anticipate the cold season too soon, but wouldn't it fun to carry around the winter wonderland?
