Ruby is also called the King of Precious Stones. It is not just the birthstone for July but also the traditional gem for celebrating the 15th and 40th wedding anniversaries.
This pair of earrings is not made of rubies but it does have the royal fiery red colors of ruby captured in crackle lampwork beads. The triad of beads, with the center bead encircled by gold-colored bezel hoops, is a classic dangle earrings silhouette.
Ruby, in Latin, is "rubeus," which simply means "red." But if you look at another language, such as Sanskrit, the sacred language of Hinduism, "rubeus" translates to "ratnaraj." This time, it no longer means red. It is now "King of Gemstones."
Compared to other precious stones, the ruby is the next toughest one, second only to diamond. This is why ruby is also used for various medical instruments and in watches.
The treasure in this glass ball earrings is not ruby. It is a bi-cone ruby-red crystal bead surrounded by crystal resins.
The fiery red color of the lampwork crackle beads in this pair of earrings is the only connection to the gemstone Ruby. This pair of earrings is unique because of the shape. The shape copies the Egyptian Hieroglyphic symbol called "Sa,"
Sa is a symbol for protection for the working class, such as the boatmen or the herdsmen. This hieroglyph is worn as an amulet.
Of course, this pair of earrings has no magical protective powers. But it doesn't hurt to have these anyway.
