One legend from Hawaii described the Peridot as the tears of Pele. She is the volcano goddess of fire who supposedly controls lava flow. It does seemed contradictory to have a goddess of fire and a gem attributed to her tears. But believers of this legend say that Peridot has healing powers and can bring about wealth.
Also known as the "Evening Emerald", the Peridot is easily identified by its yellowish-green color, exactly like the one shown in this fun cabochon earrings called the Dancing Trees.
The dancing trees are stylized and eternalized in cabochon glass. And the back of the bezel for the cabochon has an engraved tree.
The sardonyx is made of sard and onyx, thus the name. From a geologist's point of view, the sardonyx is just onyx, because sard is just another variety of onyx that has a brown color, instead of the usual black color. The uniqueness of sardonyx lies in its appearance, bands of brown and black, in an unexpectedly precise manner.
The main crystal bead in this dreamcatcher also show the same brown and black bands but not quite in a precise design, simply because this is a natural stone bead and not sardonyx.
Nevertheless, if you wanted something different from the rest, to celebrate your August birth month, these handmade earrings is a rare find.
Spinel's color is similar to that of ruby. It is essentially red. According to the American Gem Society, the highest quality spinel should have the vivid red color, just like the beads found in this pair of friendship earrings.
The hoop is 20-gauge silver wire and the two central decorative beads are crackle beads, flanked by two basic read beads. The crackle lampwork beads are made of high quality glass. The center is a Rondelle spacer beads embedded with sparkling crystal rhinestones.
